A New Type of Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector Suitable for Wide-Field High-Resolution Imaging and Spectroscopy on Large Telescopes

نویسندگان

چکیده

Atmospheric dispersion produces spectral elongation in images formed by land-based astronomical telescopes, and this increases as the telescope points away from zenith. Dispersion Correctors (ADCs) produce compensating that can be adjusted to best cancel out atmospheric effect. These correctors are generally of two basic types: Rotating (R-ADCs), Linear (L-ADCs). Lately, a third type, “Compensating Lateral ADC” (CL-ADC) has been proposed. None these design approaches allow for large corrector systems (with elements greater than 1 m diameter), which secondary spectrum is corrected small residuals, order tens’ milliarcseconds. This paper describes new type (>1 diameter elements), achieve correction 10 achieved combining R-ADC CL-ADC correction. Only glass types readily available metre diameters required.

Atmospheric dispersion compensation for extremely large telescopes.

Achieving diffraction limited imaging with future ground-based optical telescopes will require adaptive optics for correction of atmospheric turbulence and also efficient techniques for atmospheric dispersion compensation. We study the benefit of using a linear atmospheric dispersion corrector (ADC) coupled with a deformable mirror on a 42-m Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) operating in the VIRJ...

The achromatic design of an atmospheric dispersion corrector for extremely large telescopes.

For off-zenith observations with ground-based astronomical telescopes, the effect of atmospheric dispersion relative to diffraction on image size increases with telescope diameter. Correction of atmospheric dispersion in extremely large telescopes (ELTs) might become critical. A common solution for ELTs is to use linear atmospheric dispersion correctors (ADCs). In spite of their simplicity, the...

The Effects of Atmospheric Dispersion on High-resolution Solar Spectroscopy

We investigate the effects of atmospheric dispersion on observations of the Sun at the ever-higher spatial resolutions afforded by increased apertures and improved techniques. The problems induced by atmospheric refraction are particularly significant for solar physics because the Sun is often best observed at low elevations, and the effect of the image displacement is not merely a loss of effi...

a novel and ultra low cost isfet electrode and measurement system was designed for isfet application and detection of hydronium, hydrazinium and potassium ions. also, a measuring setup containing appropriate circuits, suitable analyzer (advantech board), de noise reduction elements, cooling system and pc was used for controlling the isfet electrode and various characteristic measurements. the t...

Localized plasmon assisted structured illumination microscopy for wide-field high-speed dispersion-independent super resolution imaging.

A new super resolution imaging method, i.e. Localized Plasmon assisted Structured Illumination Microscopy (LPSIM), is proposed. LPSIM uses an array of localized plasmonic antennas to provide dynamically tunable near-field excitations resulting in finely structured illumination patterns, independent of any propagating surface plasmon dispersion limitations. The illumination pattern feature sizes...
